Local Personal Theft Update

Local Personal Theft Update

Here’s a quick update on personal theft and what’s being done locally to address it.

We have recently seen a small number of thefts affecting members of our community across the ward, and we would like to remind everyone to take a little extra care with their personal belongings when out and about. Keeping valuables close to you and staying aware of your surroundings can help prevent opportunistic crime and reduce the chances of becoming a victim.

Your local ward officers have been out on foot patrol over the last few days, providing a visible presence, offering reassurance, we are committed to keeping our neighbourhood safe and continue to work closely with the community to tackle issues that matter most to you.

If you see us while we're out on patrol, please do stop and say hello. Whether you have a concern, information to share, or simply want to discuss something happening in the area, we are always happy to speak with you. You can also get in touch with us at any time through Met Engage.

Thank you for your continued support and vigilance. Working together, we can help keep our ward a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

The Met is cracking down on street crime by putting hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.

Having personal items or money stolen from you is an upsetting experience. If you have been a victim, it is important that you report these crimes to us as early as possible, to give us the best chance possible to investigate this fully. These reports help us build a picture of hot spot areas where we can spend more time, deterring and arresting thieves.

Remember to:

• Be aware of your surroundings – only take out valuables if you feel it’s safe.
• Do not leave valuable items unattended.
• Make sure any bags you have are not left unattended and are closed securely.
